A Guide Through the DUC’s Secret Menu

With bagels, cheese, and more!

If you eat at the DeRosa University Center (DUC) often you know that variety can be somewhat lackluster. While there are some dishes that are consistently served, oftentimes one can be wishing for something new. One could always try a local restaurant near campus, but that takes time and money; something which everyone seems to always need more of. Instead, you could try the obscure secret menu of the DUC. Here I have compiled a list of menu items that are possible to obtain so that hopefully you, dear reader, can enjoy them too.

Bagel sandwiches have become one of my new favorite things to order. All you have to do is to ask for bagels as bread at the sandwich station. You can have any of the typical toppings on the bagel as you would a regular sandwich and the staff will even toast it for you if you ask. The staff charges extra for the bagels, or rather they are supposed to, but sometimes they forget and it will cost the same as a regular sandwich. Definitely one of the best secret menu items, I highly recommend giving this one a try. 

Another option available at the sandwich station is grilled cheese. To acquire this, simply ask the sandwich shop for just cheese on a sandwich. One could also combine the aforementioned bagels in order to create a grilled cheese bagel. Also, for those who swear by mayonnaise on grilled cheese sandwiches, you could add that here too. 

Cajun pasta is usually a special, but you can actually order it whenever you desire. Just ask the staff for some alfredo sauce with cajun seasoning on your pasta. I usually order it with shrimp and garlic, but you can order the special with any of the typical pasta ingredients available. It is certainly worth a try, it's not everyone's favorite, but I personally enjoy it. 

Another popular secret menu item to be aware of is queso dip with chips. Simply buy your preferred bag of chips, grab a soup container, and ask the taco station to fill it with queso. Unfortunately, it is not consistently available due to it being dependent on who is working at that station. I was personally unable to acquire this secret menu item, but from what I have gathered it’s definitely achievable.
