Pacific to Face an Online Semester ….. Again.

The Pacific community is in for yet another semester of online instruction. The Spring 2021 semester, which began on January 18th, 2021, already seems to be teeming with online events and social gatherings. While the Tigers’ sense of community appears to be intact, not everything on campus is the same as it was before the pandemic.

For example, in person classes have still not resumed. For the most part, both professors and students have taken the classroom into their homes. However, this is not true for everyone. Some professors, for instance, are allowed access to their offices on campus for about eight hours per week. Similarly, some students have also been allowed to return to living on campus, particularly student athletes and those with unique circumstances. The lack of activity on the campus makes it seem larger; it has the air now of a community park instead of a school.

Though distanced, Pacific has started the new semester with many distinctive online events, such as the Winter Week of Welcome. The Week of Welcome took place from January 11th to January 15th and featured many different types of events, including a virtual run, ASUOP Meet & Greet, and Em(power) Hour. events are also scheduled for after the week, with some scheduled to take place regularly throughout the semester, like Tiger-X Group Fitness.

In spite of the socially distanced semester, there are still many ways to meet others in the Pacific community. A comprehensive list of Pacific’s upcoming events can be found here:
