Lives of Pacific

A step into a Tiger’s life.

Every day we attend our classes, work our jobs, eat, and walk across our gorgeous campus. We can get so caught up in routine we lose time to meet others on campus, Others who live intriguing lives alongside us. Students and Faculty with similar and different opinions about our campus and our lives here at Pacific. So read along to discover what fellow students and staff members are up to in their own lives.

Talking with two fellow students I was able to get a piece of how other students think about the campus. Jordan Womack, a resident assistant, Stripe’s driver, and member of Pi Kappa Alpha sees the small community of Pacific as a good and a bad aspect of our school. He sees the small community as an easy way to get to know most of his fellow students and he is able to see a friendly face wherever he goes. On the other hand, he sees how word and drama are easily spread around the campus because of our tightly woven community. One thing Jordan would like to change about our school, a change a lot of us could get behind, is a Pacific Tiger Football Team.

An anonymous female student, who is active in many clubs and a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, agrees with Jordan that the small campus and low population is a blessing. She is always able to see a friendly face and walk around campus with a peer. A major problem she sees, and many of us students have experienced, is the Pacific Housing department. She calls the Housing slow, hard to work with, and overall tedious. A unique and innovative idea this student would like to see added to our campus is a mascot for the new students in orientation. A mascot named Power Kitty, so when we begin our journey at Pacific we are Power Kitties and when we end our journey we are then Power Cats.

Our campus is full of bright students, however, the ones that help shape us are our wonderful staff. Joe Hernandez, a DeRosa University Center cook, well-known in the community for spreading his delectable pasta and kindness for a year at Pacific. Joe Hernandez loves feeding the students and the smiles he receives in return. Something Joe dislikes about his job is the fact he barely gets to sit down. Joe works double time making exquisite pasta and helping his fellow chefs. One thing Joe would like to change about Pacific is to have more food trucks around our campus with more food options. You can see Joe and his journey with cooking through his Instagram, @thepastapapiofficial.

The academic side of our staff works hard to form us into graduates who will change the world. An administrative assistant loves how our beautiful campus offers an abundance of intriguing majors, courses, and extracurricular activities for the diverse student body. Something they do not like about Pacific would have to be how Classroom Building is falling apart.

After taking a step into the lives of our fellow Tigers we learn that we all share common views of our campus. We all want to see the best for our campus and by connecting with our peers we can make that a possibility. So when you are walking on campus, in class or just chilling out in a beautiful part of campus, remember the people around you are just like you so there is no harm in connecting with one another
