Tips for Class Registration

How to make the process a little less spooky!

It’s that time of year again, but even more frightening and stress-inducing than Halloween.  It’s registration time!  Here are some of my tips to help make this process a little less stressful:

  • Tell your professors!
If your registration appointment is during a class, don’t worry!  Just tell your professor beforehand and usually, they will be more than happy to accommodate you.

  • Backups
Always, always have backups, especially if you are a freshman or someone with a lower credit count.  It can be hard to get into a class, even more so if that class is a requirement or popular.

Have those backups ready to go before your registration appointment.  Write the course numbers down and have them readily available so they are right there if you need them. There’s nothing worse than not being able to get your class and having to search for new ones while classes are filling up.

  • Backups to your backups
Sometimes even your backups will be filled, so it does help to have backups to your backups.  Even if you do not end up needing them, it will give you peace of mind.  Registration is stressful enough without any extra worries.

  • Overrides
Do not be afraid to email to ask professors for overrides.  They might say no, but they also might say yes.  However, do expect for priority to go to upperclassmen (i.e. seniors and juniors).

Good luck, Tigers!
