Nationally-ranked Pacific doubles duo extends their hot streak.

Pacific’s Men’s Tennis Team faced West Coast Conference (WCC) opponent, Gonzaga University in a home game on March 28 in a highly competitive matchup. The event also featured The Hidden Opponent, a University of the Pacific club dedicated to athlete mental health advocacy, education, and support. The Tigers got off to a strong start in doubles, with junior Tiago Silva and freshman Vraj Patel securing a dominant 6-2 victory. Silva carried that momentum into his singles match on court one, delivering a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win to secure two crucial points for Pacific. His success extends beyond this match, as he holds an exceptional 9-2 record on court three, with four wins in his last five matches.

Sophomore Christof Schaertlin Coffey also delivered a stellar performance, winning both of his matches. He partnered with graduate student Ran Amar for a 6-1 doubles victory, then followed up with a 6-3, 6-3 singles win on court six. Coffey and Amar’s strong doubles chemistry continues to be a major asset for the Tigers, as the pair has remained undefeated since Feb. 22 against UNLV. Their dominance has earned them national recognition, ranking No. 54 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with a 5-1 record and 11.35 ranking points.

With Pacific leading 3-0, senior Justas Trainauskas sealed the victory, fending off his opponent in a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 match. The Tigers’ 4-2 win improves their WCC record to 2-0, solidifying their strong start to conference play.

Up next, Pacific will travel to Loyola Marymount University, where they will seek their first road win over the Lions since 2015. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
