A View of the Women’s Soccer Season

Pacific Women’s Soccer finished up their regular season games at the end of September, and have been competing in their conference for the past month. The top scorers for the team were Jenae Packard, 22’ and Jaida Nyby, 22’ each with 4 goals. Goalkeeper Brenna Crump, 23’ recorded a save percentage of 83.5% so far in the season.
The team came out swinging early on in, coming away with two big wins against Sacramento-State and UC Davis. Defender Camryn Scully, 22’ notes, “We used the off-season to grow a lot as a team,” really showing the season’s strong start.
There was some tough competition for the team, playing some top teams in the country. A notable moment during the season was the huge 2-0 home win against the 2020 NCAA champions Santa Clara. Some other major points this season were two draws against big rival BYU and Pac-12 team Oregon State. “BYU has always been a super good opponent so we were super proud of that result,” says goalie Weronika Baranowska, 23’ on their hard-fought game against BYU.
As the season approached the last few games, the Tigers are looking ahead to the future of the program. Midfielder Laila Saravia, 24’ is excited for the seasons to come, saying “We’re rebuilding a program which isn’t easy, but this season was a step in the right direction.” The team is optimistic about their upcoming seasons.
The Tigers finished out the season with two huge wins against two big conference rivals. Taking down the LMU Lions 1-0 and dominating in a 3-0 win over University San Diego. The team ended the season with a 7-3-10 record overall.
