A new chapter, the same Tiger spirit
The Pacific Tigers Baseball Team opened their season at home, right on the Klein Family Field, at 6pm on February 14, 2025, against UC San Diego. They brought home the first win of the season, with the final score of 2-1 and a walk-off home run by senior DJ Scott earning him Player of the Game. The Tigers versed UC San Diego once again on Saturday February 15th, resulting in a loss of 4-11. Fortunately, their third and final game against UC San Diego ended with a score of 6-3, with the Tigers bringing home the win. Robert Orr was announced Player of the Game for his first hit as a Tiger in a two-run homer. Orr also played amazing defenses making several catches and pitching the last few innings of the game. The Tigers brought home their first series win.
The Baseball team started their season with the new Head Coach Reed Peters, who was named as the new Head Coach in June of 2024. His previous head-coaching job was at San Joaquin Delta Community College for the last 17 years. Coach Peters was very successful in his time at Delta College, sending 140 students to play at Division 1 schools and 31 athletes to play professionally. There are also three assistant coaches on the Baseball staff: Grant Kukuk joined the program as the pitching coach and Cade Peters joined the staff as an assistant coach, both in August of 2024, and Andrew Urbistondo was named an assistant coach in August of 2023.
The team and staff are excited for the 2025 season. With a new array of coaches, the program is turning a new leaf. Coach Peters has had a very successful career at Delta College and is now turning over that knowledge to Pacific’s baseball team. Their hard work and dedication in the off-season is poised to pay off. We will see these Tigers out on the field for 56 games this season, with 27 of those games at home.
The next game at Klein Family Field will be on Friday, February 21st, at 6pm against South Dakota State. Pacific will play them the 21st-23rd for another home series. Pacific students can attend for free by showing their student ID at the front gate. Let’s keep up the support for our baseball team this spring and cheer on our fellow Tigers. Go Tygez!
