Tigers Sweep New Mexico State

On Sunday, March 5th, Pacific Men’s Baseball won a dominant 13-4 to sweep the three game series against New Mexico State. The Tigers fought through two tough meetings with the Aggies earlier in the weekend. 

Friday started the series off with a 6-4 win for Pacific with lots of action in the later innings. All tied up going into the top of the fifth when New Mexico State took the lead 3-2. Chaz Myers, 24’ (Exploratory, Business) tied the score back up at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth, running through off a single from Ben Nemivant, 23’ (Business Admin - Finance). The Tigers would tack on another two runs from Jeremy Lea, 23’ (Business Admin - Finance) and Jacob Weiss, 24’ (Business Admin - Sports Management) to secure the dub.

Saturday brought a long battle that lasted into the 10th inning with the Tigers coming through on top 4-3. Scoring opened up quickly as 3rd basemen Rylan Evans, 26’ (Undetermined) and Ben Nemivant ran in off a single from Jeremy Lea. Jacob Weiss would have himself a day, sending two over the fence, one in the 2nd to give the Tigers the lead and one of them in the 10th to clinch the game. 

Going into Sunday, Jacob Weiss, “The way the game ended and all of the energy we had then, we built off it today,” which was evident as the Tigers would finish off the series with a decisive 13-4 win. Ben Nemivant and Andrew Sloan, 26’ (Undetermined) led the team with three runs apiece. 

Looking ahead, Junior and Outfielder Chase Graves, 24’ (Business Admin) is, “Really excited about the young group with a ton of energy and we have put a lot of work in to get prepared.” Make sure to get out and support the Tyges in their upcoming series!
