Welcome Staff Writer Kara Uchizono

Kara Uchizono is a second-year staff writer, majoring in English and is hoping to add a Writing minor soon.  Last year, she was a part of First-Year Honors and is currently a Pacific Humanities Scholar.  When not studying or working, she spends her free time reading, writing, dancing, organizing, or crafting–knitting, crochet, or sewing, if not sleeping.  Whenever doing almost anything, but especially when walking to class or getting ready in the morning, Kara likes to listen to music.  Pop, classical, musical theater, and movie soundtracks are common genres that can be found on Kara’s music playlist.

Fun fact, Kara is a professional ballet dancer with Central West Ballet in Modesto, California!  She has been dancing for about seventeen years now and is looking forward to performing in the Nutcracker in December.  She is also a loving cat mom of four and cannot resist any kind of organization content from Instagram.

According to Kara, if you would like delicious and relatively inexpensive Southeast Asian food with huge portions, stop by Johnny Wokker (now a restaurant!).  Her favorite dish is either the Chicken Pad See Ew or Drunken Noodles with Tofu.
