Tigres del Sol Prepares to Build Solar-Powered Car

Aleksei Macatuno started Pacific’s Solar Car Project called Tigres del Sol at the start of this year in January. Back then, the team consisted of about 10 members, but every member loved and cared for the project and watched as it grew. Now during the semester of Fall 2022, there are 38 members, all divided into seven teams that work on different aspects of the solar car. The people are “the life and blood of solar car”, says Aleksei, a very inspiring and determined leader. Although many of Solar Car Project’s members come from the School of Engineering and Computer Science, this club is for everyone - one and all can benefit from, and contribute to, the project. Tigres Del Sol consists of engineers, computer scientists, media-x majors, science majors, and students in the humanities. You do not need to have any experience in building a car or in solar technology. All you need is determination and an optimistic attitude!

So stop on by Anderson Hall in room 162 if you’re interested in solar technology, love working with cars, like to fundraise, or have questions and want to learn about all the wonderful work Tigres Del Sol does, and what they are building towards! As well as finding answers to your questions about the club and about each team within the Solar Car Project, you will also find a genuinely kind and welcoming group. Give it a try, and come to Anderson 162 on Wednesdays at 5:00 pm. Solar Car hopes to see you there!
